I think that I still carry mental scars from HOI3. Basically if you want to do pockets and large scale operations play Hoi3. Add BlackIce mod and you have one of the best WWII strategy games ever made, in my opinion. I've already have HOI2: complete, and I am disappointed by how it works on modern machines. HoI3 has its issues like organizing your order of battle and its tempermental supply system, but the fundamental basis of HoI, its land combat, is fun and satisfying. Hoi4 if you want a relaxing casual grand strategy game where unless you play a really weak country it is practically impossible for a decent player to lose. HOI3 if you love the tactical aspects and spending over an hour carefully managing your armies command structure for the start of the game, and then spending the rest of the game making sure the command structure doesn't collapse the moment you have to move any units.
